610 York Rd Drive-thru

Have you heard about the proposed Drive-Thru at Rodman / York?

610 Old York Road owner and developer, Mr. Philip Pulley of SBG Management, has applied for a conditional use permit for a food and beverage drive-thru at 610 Old York Road. This site is currently zoned ‘gateway commercial,’ protective zoning for surrounding neighborhoods, and only allows for drive-thrus as a conditional use requiring approval under strict guidelines. 610 Old York Road is located within Jenkintown but borders Abington Township.

JANA has been working with the Jenkintown Planning Commission and Mr. Philip Pulley in good faith to protect the interests of Abington Township / Noble Village and Jenkintown community residents.  The current proposal, as presented to neighbors by Mr. Pulley (sketch below by JANA) could flip the direction of Spring Ave. and Upland Ave. (we have been told this was advised by PennDOT) to accommodate the proposed drive-thru entry and exit on Spring Avenue, though the latest plan shown does not necessarily include the flipping. This would have an enormous negative impact on our neighborhood and will change our streets forever.  If approved, as many as 300 to 500 cars daily will access our residential streets as a bypass return to 611.
